Computers - often a blessing and sometimes a curse? M&L needs computers to function and it's hard to imagine how anyone can cope without some degree of computerised support. They are incredibly useful business tools but we ask the question, 'Do they work for us or do we work for them?'

In our view the use of computers needs to be kept in proportion to the benefits they bring and that there are often dangers of people spending too much time 'hiding' behind their screens and keyboards.

Here are some examples of what we mean:
# Time spending designing magnificent PowerPoint presentations. Did anyone ever agree anything just because of PowerPoint?
# Sales staff locked to their desks rather than spending time developing relationships with their customers
# Managers who prefer to communicate with their staff via email

If you are looking for sophisticated IT training for programmers and IT professionals then we are not for you. What we can do is help your people who work with computers to use them more effectively so that they have more time to devote to other important parts of their job functions.

We concentrate on shortcuts and sophisticated tricks to help people get their computer-based work done faster and better.

We run IT basic or advanced training courses based around the principle Microsoft Office programmes and applications:

1. Word - effective letter writing and mail merge
2. PowerPoint - creating terrific presentations quickly
3. Excel - setting up linked spreadsheets for fast and accurate information
4. Outlook - use and abuse of Email
5. Windows - for the guilty-feeling computer illiterate
6. Internet - how to get the best out of it and how to create your own website

We generally work either one-to-one or with groups up to a maximum of four. Everyone needs to have a computer handy - preferably a laptop.

We prefer to have people work on creating IT documents of genuine value to themselves and their businesses during the course.
